The MSI MAG B850 TOMAHAWK MAX WIFI II is an ATX motherboard for Socket AM5, built on the AMD B850 chipset. It supports Ryzen 7000, 8000 and 9000 series processors and has four DDR5 slots for up to 256 GB, with memory speeds listed up to DDR5-8400 (O.C.). Storage is a strong point: four M.2 slots, two of them PCIe 5.0, plus four SATA ports. Networking covers Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.4 and 5 Gigabit Ethernet.

This board suits mid-range to high-end AMD gaming builds that need plenty of fast storage and modern connectivity. Three USB-C 3.2 Gen 2 (10 Gbit/s) ports sit on the rear I/O, along with HDMI, and there is an internal USB-C 20 Gbit/s header for the front panel. MSI includes tool-free extras such as EZ M.2 Clips, an EZ WiFi antenna and a pre-installed I/O shield, which make building easier. A BIOS update may be needed for the newest processors.

Irish online stores in general have a common practice of selling something they don't have - claiming they do - and then ordering from their source, leading to long shipping times and frustated customers. That was not the case here! I've asked them to let me know when they had the graphics card I wanted back in stock as it was out of stock.
