Product Overview

The MSI B840 GAMING PLUS WIFI is an ATX motherboard for Socket AM5 built on the AMD B840 chipset. It supports Ryzen 7000, 8000 and 9000 series processors (a BIOS update may be needed for the newest chips) and has four DDR5 slots for up to 256 GB of memory, with supported speeds of up to DDR5-8000 (OC). Networking is a strong point: Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.4 and 2.5 Gigabit LAN are all onboard.

This board suits a mid-range AM5 gaming build where fast storage and modern wireless matter. Two M.2 slots run at PCIe 4.0 (the second accepts 22110 drives), and there are four SATA ports with RAID 0, 1 and 10. The 7+2+1 power design, extended VRM heatsink and M.2 Shield Frozr cover cooling. Mystic Light RGB headers and six fan headers handle lighting and airflow, and the EZ WiFi antenna, EZ M.2 Clip II and SATA cable are in the box. Integrated graphics outputs only work with a CPU that has an iGPU.
