The Samsung 870 EVO 8 TB SATA SSD is a 2.5-inch drive with sequential speeds of up to 560 MB/s read and 530 MB/s write, which is about as much as the SATA III interface allows. It uses V-NAND TLC memory and the Samsung MKX controller, with 98,000 IOPS random read and 88,000 IOPS random write.

With 8 TB of capacity, this drive suits large game libraries, video footage and archives in a desktop PC, laptop or NAS, and it is listed as NAS capable. Intelligent TurboWrite uses a dynamic 4 to 22 GB write buffer to hold up write performance. Hardware AES 256-bit encryption, S.M.A.R.T., TRIM and Device Sleep support are included, and it is compatible with Windows, macOS and Linux.
