The Samsung 9100 PRO 4 TB NVMe SSD is a PCIe 5.0 x4 M.2 2280 drive with sequential read and write speeds of up to 14,800 MB/s and 13,400 MB/s. Random performance reaches up to 2,200,000 IOPS read and 2,600,000 IOPS write, and Samsung rates the sequential speeds at twice those of the 990 PRO. It uses V-NAND TLC memory, a 1,024 MB cache and the NVMe 2.0 protocol.
With 4 TB of capacity and a PCIe 5.0 interface, this drive suits gaming PCs and workstations built around video editing, 3D design or long streaming sessions. It is also listed as PS5 compatible. Samsung quotes a 5nm controller with up to 49% better power efficiency than the 990 PRO, AES 256-bit hardware encryption, S.M.A.R.T. and TRIM support, and Samsung Magician software for drive monitoring and firmware updates.
