The Samsung 9100 PRO 1 TB is a PCIe 5.0 x4 NVMe 2.0 SSD in the M.2 2280 format, rated for sequential reads of up to 14,800 MB/s and writes of up to 13,400 MB/s. Samsung states that is about twice as fast as the 990 PRO. Random performance reaches 1,850,000 IOPS read and 2,600,000 IOPS write, and the drive uses TLC V-NAND with a 1,024 MB cache.

This drive suits gaming PCs and workstations with a free PCIe 5.0 M.2 slot, and Samsung also lists it as compatible with the PS5. It is intended for video editing, 3D work and large game libraries. It is endurance-rated at 600 TBW with a 1,500,000-hour MTBF and supports AES 256-bit encryption, TRIM and S.M.A.R.T. Samsung Magician software handles drive monitoring and firmware updates. It weighs just 9 g.
