Product Overview

The GigaByte Gen3 2500E 500 GB is an M.2 2280 NVMe SSD that uses a PCIe 3.0 x4 interface and NVMe 1.3. It delivers sequential speeds of up to 2,300 MB/s read and 1,500 MB/s write, with random performance of 60,000 IOPS read and 240,000 IOPS write. It is built around a Phison controller and 3D NAND, and is rated for 120 TBW.

This drive is a straightforward upgrade for a desktop PC or laptop that still relies on a SATA drive or a hard disk, giving noticeably faster data transfers than a 2.5″ SATA SSD. It uses Host Memory Buffer technology instead of its own DRAM, supports TRIM, SMART and Over-Provisioning, and draws 2.3 W in operation. The SSD Tool Box software shows drive health and temperature and offers Secure Erase.
