The ADATA XPG MARS 980 BLADE is a 4 TB PCIe 5.0 x4 NVMe M.2 2280 SSD built around the SMI SM2508 controller and 232-layer 3D NAND. It reaches sequential speeds of up to 14,000 MB/s read and 13,000 MB/s write, with 4K random performance of 1,950,000 read and 1,650,000 write IOPS. It uses SLC caching and a DRAM cache buffer.

Made on a 6 nm process, this drive is designed to run without bulky cooling, which suits laptops and compact systems as well as desktop PCs. It is backward compatible with PCIe 4.0 and 3.0 platforms and is PS5 compatible, with up to 6,500 MB/s reads in the console. The 2,960 TBW endurance rating and hardware encryption (TCG Pyrite) support heavy, long-term use, and the SSD Toolbox software monitors drive health.
