The ADATA LEGEND 960 MAX 1 TB is a PCIe 4.0 x4 NVMe 1.4 M.2 2280 SSD with quoted sequential speeds of up to 7,400 MB/s read and 6,000 MB/s write. ADATA says that is roughly three times the speed of mainstream PCIe 3.0 SSDs and 15 times that of SATA SSDs. It uses an SMI SM2264 controller, SLC caching and HMB, with random performance of 730,000 read and 610,000 write IOPS.

It ships with a finned aluminium heatsink in dark grey and gold, so it suits desktop builds and laptops with enough clearance. It is also backward compatible with PCIe 3.0 platforms. Because the heatsink fits the console’s slot, the drive can be installed as extra storage in a PlayStation 5. Endurance is rated at 780 TBW with an MTBF of 2,000,000 hours, and AES 256-bit encryption and LDPC ECC are included.
