Product Overview

The OWC Guardian 4 TB external SSD is a portable drive that encrypts your data automatically and is unlocked with a password entered on its built-in colour touchscreen. It connects over a single USB-C 3.2 Gen 2 port (10 Gbit/s) and delivers read and write speeds of up to 1,000 MB/s, which is enough for moving large files and backing up data quickly.

Because the drive handles encryption itself, it works the same way on a Mac, iPad Pro or PC, with no software needed to unlock it. Data is encrypted as it is written and decrypted when read, and if the internal SSD is removed from a lost or stolen drive, the contents stay inaccessible without the password. It suits anyone carrying private or business files, and it is quick enough for editing 4K video. It comes with a 50 cm USB-C cable and weighs 209 g.
